Solar Energy: Tips And Advice You Can Use

Solar energy is a natural choice for powering your office or home. It can save you a bundle of money and do less harm to the environment than traditional electricity usage. This article has great solar energy information.

The number of solar panels you buy, as well as their efficiency, has everything to do with the amount of energy your panels produce. Be sure and crunch the numbers to see how many solar panels you'll need to install. Higher-efficiency panels are often your best bet cost-wise.

Saving the environment can start with cleaner water-heating devices. For example, consider a solar water heater. They're affordable to install and save you money.

Even if your area is cloudy and cold, you can still use solar energy. Direct sunlight isn't always necessary. In fact, a lot people report that they get a lot of solar power from days that are not that sunny.

If you are considering purchasing a solar energy system, avoid high pressure salesmen. You are the only one who can make this decision, and you must do so by obtaining all the necessary information and weighing the costs and benefits. Buying under pressure is not good concerning the price and importance of your decision.

If you have resources and space available, a panel system that tracks the sun is the best. This type of system moves with the sun throughout the day. Solar tracking systems may be more expensive initially, but they pay off with the extra energy they produce.

A lot of governments throughout the world could offer tax credits for those that use solar energy. This can save you up to one-third of your initial purchase. Search the Internet or call a representative for information on local programs.

After your solar panels are installed, check the inverter on a regular basis. Look for a green light (or other verification). If the light blinks or is not on, you have to get a professional. Most homeowners should not diagnose an issue with solar panels. A technician shouldn't cost a thing if the panels came with the common 25-year warranty.

Once you buy a home, you should explore the option of installing a full solar energy system. If you're still paying off a mortgage, it's best to wait.

Understand that, unfortunately, solar panels aren't cheap. Therefore, you should probably start out with just a few if necessary. Have a solar energy specialist come to your home to conduct an energy audit. You will find where your wasted energy is going and give you ideas for changes. As a result, you will need fewer panels.

If your location is in the Southwest, then solar power can be a huge benefit for you. This area gets the most solar energy year round, making it extremely beneficial financially to become reliant on the sun for your energy needs. If you still have not researched the expense involved, delay no longer.

It's a major decision to use solar energy, but it's worth it. The numerous benefits include a reduced carbon footprint and long-term savings. It could even be one of the best decisions you make. Use the advice in the article below to help you make this important change.

CONNECT TWEET 18 LINKEDIN 1 COMMENTEMAILMORE LANSING - The tribe working to build a casino near downtown Lansing voted on Tuesday to challenge the federal government's refusal earlier this year to put the Lansing property into trust.   The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians has for years wanted to build a casino adjacent to the Lansing Center on East Michigan Avenue. The tribe has owned the land since 2012, but in July,  the U.S. Interior Department denied the tribe's request to take the land into trust, an important step necessary to open the casino through tribal gaming laws.   More: "Chicago developer proposes 10-story apartment building at site of East Lansing 7-Eleven" At the time, both the tribe and Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero — who has long supported the casino plan — vowed to fight the denial. On Tuesday, the tribe's governing Board of Directors approved a resolution authorizing the tribal chairman and attorney to "take whatever action is necessary and appropriate to challenge and overturn the denial," up to and including a federal lawsuit.  "We are continuing to work with our legal counsel to make sure we have pursued every available option," John Wernet, the tribe's general counsel, said in an email to the State Journal, "but it seems likely that a lawsuit will be necessary to vindicate the Tribe's clear statutory right to have these lands placed in mandatory trust status."  He could not specify a timeline for the challenge but said "this matter is of vital importance to the Tribe and we intend to move expeditiously … we continue to be very confident that we will prevail."  The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe currently owns five casinos , all of them in the Upper Peninsula. The tribe had applied to entrust the land in Lansing and more property in New Boston, southwest of Detroit.   The tribe had argued that federal law requires the government to entrust certain property purchased for "enhancement of tribal lands," but the Interior Department said this summer the tribe failed to prove the casino plans would accomplish that. Two other Michigan tribes who own casinos and have opposed the Lansing casino plans, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi and the Saginaw Chippewa, are ready to join a legal fight against the project, a spokesman said Wednesday.  "We will monitor this situation on a daily basis and prepare for participation in the litigation," spokesman James Nye told the State Journal. "We would seek to vigorously defend Interior's logical decision to deny the Sault tribe the ability to open numerous casinos hundreds of miles from its reservation."   Part of the Interior Department's denial said the tribe could not prove that the Lansing and New Boston properties would benefit the tribe's headquarters about 300 miles away.  There are currently 23 tribal casinos in Michigan, according to the state Gaming Control Board, plus three commercial casinos in Detroit. The Sault Ste. Marie tribe once owned Detroit's Greektown Casino but lost it in a 2008 bankruptcy.  Contact Justin A. Hinkley at (517) 377-1195 or  jhinkley@lsj.com .

Getting Your Power From The Sun: A Guide

Solar energy has become very popular recently. Homes and businesses all over the planet are starting to utilize solar energy technology to save money and operate more efficiently. This article will show you how to use solar energy yourself.

You should understand that there are two different kinds of photo-voltaic panels. The cheapest are poly-crystalline, but mono-crystalline are more efficient. Buy the best product for the amount of money you have available to spend.

Start small when you start using solar energy. Choose a few lights to put in your front yard until you realize the benefits of solar energy. You should not have any problem finding these lights at a store near you. The installation is simple enough for the budding do-it-yourselfer to accomplish.

Just because you have a lot of cloud cover does not mean you can't get solar power! Direct sunlight isn't always necessary. Many folks say that their top power days sometimes come on seemingly less than optimal days.

The best way to generate solar power for your home or business is to utilize sun-tracking panel systems. These systems follow the movement of the sun across the sky throughout the day and the seasons. Although initial installation costs will be more expensive than a fixed panel system, the extra energy generated in the long run may be worth it.

Instead of turning solar power into electricity, you can instead use it to heat water or even your home. These particular panels work best in areas that have a minimum of five constant hours of sunlight. Solar water heating can significantly reduce your heating costs, especially if you have a swimming pool that you heat up.

Approximately thirty-five percent of home energy usage can be attributed to the heating of water. A solar powered water heater is a less expensive alternative to converting your entire home to solar power.

If you are considering giving your business to a solar energy company, check on its financial standing first. You'll want use a company that will still be in business 20 years down the road. This is crucial in the case of warranties and in the event you need your panels replaced.
